Bill targets deportation intimidation, retaliation in California

A number of California employers are quickly willing to accept the hard working attitude of undocumented workers. In fact, many businesses in the state thrive on this workforce. Yet, these same employers are often unwilling to pay these same individuals overtime for the long hours that they work or provide adequate meal and rest breaks.
When those that do speak up about the working conditions, many are threatened with deportation. In a number of cases, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers are even contacted in retaliation for trying to make a change. These retaliatory actions are exactly what two bills making their way through the California legislature have put a target on.
